Rock, setbacks, shoreline permitting, seasonal access. Every waterfront lot brings its own constraints, and a cottage sited to the topography of the land, built to withstand the climate, and finished to the standard the location deserves is the only sensible answer to them.
A waterfront cottage tends to outlast the family that commissioned it, which changes how we approach the build. We design for how the property will actually be used, across seasons and across generations, and construct it with our own crews so the standard does not vary from the first cottage we built to the one we are building now. We build regularly on Lake of Bays, Lake Rosseau, Lake Joseph, and the smaller lakes between them.

No two waterfront lots present the same rock, grade, or exposure, so no two cottages we design are alike.

Because our own crews carry out the work, the standard of construction is one we set and hold ourselves to, not one negotiated through a subcontractor's margin.

Walk a finished home before you commit
Drawings and specification lists only tell you so much. Our model home is open to tour by appointment, and it is finished to the same standard we build to everywhere: on our lots at Deerhurst Highlands, on land you already own, and on the water. Come and look at the trim, the tile, the cabinetry and the light before you commit to anything.
